About Us
The Area Agency on Aging of North Idaho (AAANI), located in Coeur d’Alene, is one of six Area Agencies in Idaho. It is part of a nationwide aging network created through the Older Americans Act. Each of the Area Agencies has a volunteer commissioner appointed by the governor through the Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA). Our commissioner is Chris Magera of Athol, Idaho. The focus of the AAANI is on helping people stay independent and contributing members of their community. We also offer adult protective services to Kootenai, Bonner, Boundary, Benewah and Shoshone Counties.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to work in partnership with older adults, families and the community to secure information and services that maximize independence and quality of life. We value the community support that helps seniors stay in their home, caregivers who make a difference, volunteers who give so our community can be a better place to live, safety and autonomy, consumer choice, and partners that help us make it all work. Aging Services for North Idaho Endowment
In the spring of 2011 the Area Agency on Aging established a partnership with the Innovia Foundation. The Foundation works with potential donors and manages the Aging Services for North Idaho endowment investments and distributions. The intent is to create an endowment large enough for interest earnings to fill in the gaps of unmet needs and assist North Idaho in developing new programming as needs change from one generation to another.
